Prazi or Copper ok while symptomatic of Lympho?

I have a copperband butterfly in QT (day 5) with lympho since day 1. Its in there with a matted filefish showing no symptoms, although I'm not sure I'd be able to tell with all that fish has going on visually. My question is, any reason not to dose prazi or copper (prophylactic) while the fish is showing symptoms? Does the virus weaken their immune system enough that either medication could harm the fish?

I normally start prazi after 7-10 days. Would rather not wait a few weeks (or however long it takes) for it to clear up............because if you can't tell by my selection, I have an aiptasia problem that is quickly getting out of hand.

Just to clarify, only symptom is growing cauliflower on tip of right fin (3 growths) and dorsal (2). I know its not ich or velvet because they are larger, have grown consistently, and haven't moved\fallen off. I tried to get pics just for confirmation but my phone camera sucks and its an active fish. Fish are both eating very well and behaving normally.

My understanding was that lymoho is a virus and non impactful on the fish in general, so I'd wait for confirmation, but good food soaked with vitamins would help, but you should be able to proceed if the cb is eating well... What are you feeding it? Live black worms and clams have been known to be its favorites.

Copper and Praziquantel have no effect on that disease ... and unless the lympho is in the fish's mouth or gills, preventing feeding or breathing, you can pretty much treat with either medication, as normal.

Yes it's a virus and normally doesn't hurt the fish unless it obstructs vision, eating, or breathing, but it's still a virus so the immune system is weakened to some extent and I was trying to determine if this made the fish more susceptible to the side effects of copper or prazi.

I feed all of my fish live blackworms and LRS fish frenzy. The CBB has been crushing both thankfully, and I did feed some clam the other day as well.

Thanks Bruce, I was less concerned about copper/prazi effecting the lympho but rather the lympho making the fish more sensitive to medication and therefore higher risk for side effects. The lympho is only on the fins as far as I can tell. I will start prazi in a few days then.

FWIW, I've been treating (with "trifecta" antibiotics, General Cure and Coppersafe) an incoming regal angelfish who's got a bit of lymphocystis - she's going into the display this afternoon.

Agree. Copper and meds can reduce the immune strength of the fish causing lymph to worsen but as said it’s almost always harmless and I wouldn’t hesitate.

In this case, when I started this round of QT, my heater had quit working. My backup heater quit as well, leaving the fish in water that wasn't warm enough for 36 hours or so. An anthias and a wrasse came down with bacterial infections, so added antibiotics to the water. Too late, in this case.

Ah gotcha, sorry to hear that, that's very unlucky.
