Can someone please confirm If Praziquantel can be safely dosed in a retail fish system where copper power is used at 2.0 ppm. And if so how much prazi powder should be used in 800 gallons. I’m looking to treat flukes

Thanks in advance

Seems like whenever I've used prazi pro when there is copper in the water it causes a bacterial bloom.

It can be done, increase flow as much as you can and watch for blooms or problems with fish. Have some water ready to make water changes. The dosing for the powder is usually 9.5g/gal for the powder. Can you post what kind of prazi you have to confirm?

I used it at 2.0 copper power two weeks ago. Water had a slight haze, but was still clear.

If you’re going to combine copper and praziquantel then you need to use API General Cure not Prazipro. You will need to need an extra power head to really agitated the water surface.

Copper and prazi are going to greatly reduce your O2. General cure was mentioned above and would be a better alternate plus alot of surface agitation :)

I’m not sure that’s accurate. General cure is prazi + metro, if anything the potential for O2 depletion is greater when combining additional antibiotics.

The only downside of mixing the two, in addition to a potential O2 depletion, would be somewhat decreased action of prazi in copper.

Powered Prazi is not very water soluble. You can put it into a brine shrimp net (for collecting newly hatched nauplii) or a pantyhose and more or less massage it into the water through the net
