following the marine parasite calculator, at 77 degrees and 1.020 salinity, it says to dose, the dose again 6-8 days later, and that’s it.

I’ve seen some say you need three roundabout of prazi, which is the common belief, and one would one dose 3x as opposed to twice?

Thanks

I have never needed to use anymore than two doses.

Praziquantel only kills worms, not their eggs. So the calculator figures the gestation period for the eggs based on the parameters. The goal with the second dose is to kill the new hatchlings before they enter reproduction. The reason for the gap between doses is to make sure all of the eggs have indeed hatched.

If you still see flukes after the second dose then you may be dealing with a resistant strain.

Ok so if two doses doesn’t cut it then a third is a waste and wouldn’t work anyhow if first two didn’t take care of it

Not necessarily. You may have miss judged the gestation period. But I would definitely go with hotrocks suggestions as he is a QT master!

It just shouldn't be necessary. It won't hurt anything to do a third dose.

Thank you. Doing this all prophatycally, havnt seen them , just don’t want to risk it and rather be done now then down the road
