My Kole Tang is showing signs of flukes. He randomly out of nowhere darts while swimming & just seems to be acting sorta crazy out of nowhere/cryptic. I don’t think I’ll be able to catch him to do a FW dip. I also have 9 other fish in the tank. After doing some research, I was thinking of dosing PraziPro & doing two rounds of it. My questions are:
I read I should do two rounds to make sure the flukes are completely out of the system. How long should I wait inbetween each round of dosing?
Also, I have to turn off the protein skimmer? I’m not sure how well my fish will do with everything off. (Skimmer, UV, GFO & Carbon) Have a feeling my tank is going to get pretty cloudy. Another thing is, I read I should do a water change after each round of dosing Prazi. Is this really necessary? I run a no water change system & have never done any since before my tank was cycled. Is any water change really necessary? Lastly, when am I able to turn my equipment all back on again?

I would not consider that signs of flukes. That is common symptoms of a stressed Tang.

If you choose to do Prazi, you do need to do two doses. And it would actually be best to leave the skimmer running and just remove the collection cup and let it overflow. As Prazi will often deplete oxygen in the tank. Also it is known to kill worms including feather dusters if you have them. A water change is not necessary in my opinion. But you do need to turn all of those things off. But really only for 3 days as I recall. Then repeat in 7 days from the first dose

it’s sorta like he twitches /spazzes & darts into the open water idk just seems kinda off & unlike regular stress behavior. I’ll try to get a video up a little later maybe. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to go through with the Prazi in my DT anyways though would it? Might as well if it doesn’t do any harm

That still sounds like typical stressed tang behavior to me. When my hippo tang use to do that, out of the blue it would start darting around like a ping pong ball bouncing off of things, then would wedge himself between two rocks and would be breathing heavy.

But no, it shouldn't hurt anything in your DT, so long as you dont have any worms, and have enough oxygen in there. Several people on here have killed fish by dosing prazi and not having adequate oxygen in their tank during the treatment.

That’s kinda relieving to hear. Did your hippo tang eventually just stop this behavior? My powerheads go over 5000gph each so shouldn’t have a problem regarding oxygen if I end up going through with Prazi & I don’t have any worms so no worries there. I may just add Prazi after I make my last additions to the tank as a safeguard. Still plan on adding 1-2 more fish

No, I had some copper in my water. Once I got that out and started feeding it heavier and more algae sheets it stopped.

Power heads are great, but they do not produce oxygen into the tank. For Prazi people usually put a air pump in and or take the top off of the skimmer and let it run and overflow.

Diet is definitely not the issue for my fish since I feed a variety of foods throughout the day. Not sure about copper tho. I was thinking pointing the powerheads upwards would create more oxygen throughout the tank. Thanks for clarifying for me though
