I have a mandarin, female, that has never done as well as the male. She's looking pretty thin. I have a good supply of pods and even just added 2 more bags. Have some culturing as well.

When I first got her I thought I might have seen some white stringy poop but never saw it again. I didn't qt the mandarins as I lost my first pair in QT. I hesitate to pull her as the qt doesn't have a pod population.

Can I safely treat the tank with prazipro? I don't have any feather dusters. Have 2 clowns, 2 chromis, scooter blenny, pair of mandarins, normal CUC, and lots of corals

If I can treat, what is the best method.

the male is all over the place, hunting. I don't think the female has ever really climbed into the rocks, hangs on the sandbed. She's looking weak today and I had even thought I lost her as I hadn't seen 2 at the same time for a while

Is it worth the risk to try to qt her and see if I have enough pods in cultures to feed her?

I treated a 32g DT with prazi before. I have LPS, softies, and an anemone with zero issues. Just be sure you measure correctly. And follow instructions exact.

I’ll also add, I did this because my fish wouldn’t eat. If your fish eats then you can just focus/metroplex the food.

I'm assuming I have to have the protein skimmer off for the entire 5-7 days?

Yes, it will overflow for quite some time after treatment....or at least mine did.

I've treated my DT on two occasions (two doses about 5 days apart). The first time several acros browned out but I didn't lose anything. The last time I lost a large purple stylo colony and one acan. Again several coral looked stressed for several weeks. Other than the two lost, all corals recovered completely.

I've done prazi in my DT a few times. It's not really an issue. Prazi isnt something you have to get right on the dot for dosing either, you have a decent buffer without worry. I think you can dose like 2x the amount without issues. I always dosed like 120% of the recommended amount just to be safe. I've done it probably 3 or 4 times and havent lost anything.

Skimmer will go absolutely nuts for awhile, thats the biggest pain. Once your prazi term is completed, run carbon for a couple of days before turning the skimmer back on, it will really help.

Oh and if you have any xenia it will look like hell for the 1st couple of hours after you dose. Dont freak out haha. It'll come back and look fine overnight.

I have treated my mixed reef several times with prazi pro. Works greats. Your anemones will initially deflate and then fill back up. I have seen no ill long term effects on any of my corals. You will need to turn off uv sterilizer, protein skimmer, activated carbon before treating.

The only reason I treat prazi is for flukes. Nothing else. Do you think the mandarin has flukes?

@mtraylor I suspect internal parasites if she did have white stringy poop a while back. Seen no rubbing. Today just listless. She doesn't eat if I turkey bast her some food, never has. Lots of pods but she's also never climbed into the rocks to hunt. Will see if this works.

Agree. It’ll tick off other corals as well but they all pull through, even tube worms and feather dusters IME

Oh ok. Hopefully she will pull through. Its good stuff.

I’ve never had any losses with prazi and don’t turn your skimmer off just remove the collection cup
I agree don’t turn skimmer off. Remove collection cup so the tank can get plenty of oxygen. I did my display as well. A few corals weren’t happy but survived.
