On 3rd day of single dose of PraziPro. My observation is that everyday fish get less and less enthusiastic about eating....AS an example my Blonde Naso is usually very aggressive with Nori and all food....now only “nibbles” on the nori and is not eating anything else. The fish are more jittery too....Before treatment they would always enthusiastically approach as I approached the tank, now they run the other way. Is this all normal under Prazi treatment? If so I wouldn’t classify it as “extremely safe and gentle”. The fish reaction actually is surprising based on Hikari description and has me worried.....Thx

Praziquantel is a known appetite suppressant although in comparison to some other meds probably much milder. It depletes O2 in water and that could cause further issues. I would start by increasing flow in tank, point power heads to the surface

its true everytime i use prazi in QT my fish slowly stop eating but i just do a water change and run carbon and they are back to eating again

Yes I’m sure that w/b the case but have to wait the full 7 days to ensure eggs are also destroyed then I can do the water change and carbon. Should I do another treatment after the water change? I’ve been told by some that one treatment s/b enough and other say 2 treatments to make sure everything eradicated....a bit of a toss up....

Just started running carbon and will do water change tomorrow to get prazi out as fish are just not responding well to it at all....heavy breathing, very spooked and skittish.....I would do water change today but need to produce enough RO rest of day and over night.....I’ve heard all these great things about prazipro but have to say....I’m thinking it might be time to resign from the fan club....

Ran carbon last night. No water change yet. Fish already look so much happier. Heavy breathing has slowed down and they are all approaching me as enter the room again. So already taking some Prazi out is making them feel better. I will leave them prazi free for 3 days then repeat dosage but only for 48 hours, followed by carbon and water change again and hope I got it all. Want to say that Prazi is not as “gentle” as it states. You really got to keep an eye on the fish’s behavior and be ready to remove prazi after 24-36 hours and repeat 3-4 days later again...lets hope this works.

After 15% water change, waited a couple of days and did another round of prazi on day 6 from original treatment. Today is day 8, 48 hours from last dose so will do a ~20% water change and run carbon. Hopefully these 2 treatments did the trick as I got to get these fish eating again! IMO prazi isn’t “extremely safe” and “gentle” as advertised.....any thoughts on my plan above before I do the water change and add carbon in about an hour...10:30am EST. Thank you!

im glad that your fish are doin better your plan sounds fine usually 1 dose is enough to kill the flukes 2 is just to be sure

Thx! I decided to wait one more day so will do water change, carbon, UV’s, and skimmers tomorrow morning. They ate a little HPD mix and nori so at least they are starting to eat a little even w/ Prazi still in water. Thx again!
