I have some worms/snails that create a web that can get on my SPS. I was wondering if Prazipro would kill them along w/ being reef safe. The bottle of prazipro states not safe in reef aquariums with oramental worms.

1. Is prazipro reef safe? I mainly have SPS corals
2. Has anyone ever tried eradicating these worms/snails with Prazipro?

thanks for your input

how many worms are you talking about?
Whenever I find those, vermitid snails, I super glue the openings or just snap them off. But I dont have many either.
If theres a ton that you have....maybe someone will comment on the treatment.

I have quite a few. I've cut some off and super glued some shut. I'm thinking of going to a larger tank and want to keep the rock I have but do not want to transfer them to the larger tank if at all possible.

There is a risk of killing tube worms like feather dusters (though I've never lost one when using prazipro) and I believe there is a risk to bristle worms. Again, I've not had any noticeable die off of those either when using prazi. I wouldn't use it just for that reason.

I don't have feather dusters and I run a bare bottom tank so bristle worms don't do much for my tank. Did you see any negative effects to your corals?

My montis faded a bit, but they came back pretty quickly after the second dose was done.

I currently do not have fish in my dt. (Qt them now). I haven't fed the tank but I am dosing nitrates to keep corals colored up. I'm Hopi g this helps starve some of them

You could try a wrasse that may eat them. There are several that supposedly eat tube worms and the like.

^^Agree & agree. :) Dosing Prazipro is unlikely to solve your specific problem, but adding a Halichoeres wrasse probably will. However, don't be surprised if he doesn't eventually also eat your snails & hermits. ;)

Vermetids were the bane fo my last tank. I found the more I fed the sps corals the worse they got. I researched this heavily and the only sure-fire way to keep them out is to make sure they don't get introduced. I had a Yellow Coris Wrasse that didnt touch them. I have heard of others getting lucky with a Wrasse eating them. I hate them so much I wouldnt even use dead rock that had their telltale tubes that had been sitting in my basement for a year and a half during a break in the hobby. The only good news is they seem to dwindle and die off over time.

I am following this thread in case someone has discovered a way to eradicate them.
