So, I want to make sure we take care of any and everything we can prior to setting up tank, because once that thing is in, we're not moving it. We already changed all of the outlets to GFCI and installed our RO/DI tubing through the wall so we have access to it behind the tank. A couple of questions for you guys...
  1. Any of you seal the wall behind your fishtanks prior to setting it up to help with salt spray, etc? Any tips or suggestions?
  2. What about having internet hardwired near the tank to make things easier with any hardware we add to tank?
Anything else you guys suggest? Thanks in advance for your help.

Make sure you tank is completely level before you start adding... I would suggest before and after you add rock. Before and after you add water... if you do this now, you will save yourself a lot of headache and time.
I have an open top tank and do not deal with salt spray or anything like that. I hope this helps you! Good luck!

That's definitely the first thing we're going to do! I was thinking more along the lines of I don't want this to happen... "Oh crap. Tank is all set up and we forgot to XXX." after it's all leveled, filled with water and rocks. Haha.

Do you have a cover on your open top tank? Or it is completely open?

1. Tank background applied

2. Ethernet run, for controllers etc. More reliable than WiFi.

3. Potentially a dedicated 15 or 20 amp circuit for the tank.

4. Initial tank leveling. Tank may need additional leveling after being filled and settled in.

I have a cover, but it looks so much better without haha. Definitely not recommended but to each their own.

try sound proofing your sump or cabinet. Will make a huge difference in the long run.
