Precipitation in my BRS GFO. Carbon reactoe

So been dosing BRS 2 part for about 7 months and this tank is about a year old. Never had a problem with these before. Now for the 3rd time in about a month the GFO and Carbon slowly turn white and basically turn into solid masses that eventually will not flow water any more. I suspect it's CaCO3, but this seems to be the only place I'm really seeing this. The reactor is fed via manifold on my return pump and the 2 part is dispensed into the skimmer section of my sump, passes through the refugium then to return pump which then slots to the manifold and primary return lines and my UV that has its own return line. I'm not seeing excessive deposits anywhere else. Return pump has little to none, UV unit looked normal for 1 month after clean, a lite film on the sleeve and some on the walls. Within about 1-2 weeks the reactors are clogging. Currently dosing about 250 mL of each per day to maintain levels.

Anyone every had this occur, any thoughts on root cause for the reactors, but nowhere else. Really has me scratching my head as I'd expect it in other places if the levels where off and the cause.

I've confirmed these numbers with both Hanna checkers and Red Sea pro kits so the numbers are consistent.
 
What's your magnesium levels? Low magnesium can cause precipitation.
 
PH changes? CO2 from air conditioner hanges, indoor humidiry? Temp changes? Any additions / subtraction from the tank? Sorry, just taking a stab now. Different salt?

None of the above. Skimmer pulls air from outside and my pH stay between 8.1 and 8.2, but temp pretty steady within 1 degree. Use IORC salt as I have, I always adjust Mg, Ca, and alk before the water change so they match closely. I know I taken a stab at anything I can think of. Now if it was precipitating in many places that would be more illuminating at least.
 
Got some pics as I had to pull the GFO off to change it out as the precip started to affect flow and could no longer tumble the GFO. Funny part no precip on the outer sleeve just the insert where the media is. [emoji47]

Oh wow, if the gfo does turn into a brick then sure its precipitation. Does look like some encrustment inside also
 
It looks like once you completely remove phosphates you can precipitate caco3, if you're at 0 phosphates I'd pull the gfo off until it rises to detectable levels. What are your normal no3 and pO4 levels, corals fine? I've even nutrient limited, started feeding more and everything looks better now.

Corals are all good and growing well. I have for a long time had no detectable NO3 or PO4. I assume there is organic PO4 which would not be registered from a test kit. But it may be my PO4 are so low the reaction can occur. I may have to take it offline and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions!
