Hi all,

I had a fuzzy dwarf lionfish about a month ago that after a few days started coughing every 3 or so breaths. (Like when they've just eaten and got something stuck in their throat) I thought maybe she did get a shrimp spine the wrong way or something like that, a well later still coughing but still eating. Maybe molting issues? But after 2 weeks of coughing she starter to go off food. That's when I gave her a fresh water bath, no flukes or parasites though.. Sadly because she was so tiny she died only 2 days after going off food... After she died I examined her throat and gills but found nothing...

I tested my tank, parameters were all good and a week later came across a yellow spot scorpion fish... He came home and started eating straight away for me, after a week into pred display. Then a found a dwarf zebra lionfish the following week. Having had no problems with my scorpion I bought the lion... He ate for me as well and is now in the pred display...

3 days after the lion went into the dt... The coughing has started!!! The scorpion and lion are both off live food and I've got no idea what's going on!!!!!! All other fish (mollies, damsel, catfish, wrasse) are totally fine and parameters all spot on...

Anyone have any ideas?

Possibly a microscopic parasite or something irritating gills, throat.
