Am I correct that this will attack other snails and hermits. I recently read an article that they can be mistaken for Concs. Can't remember the name for the life of me. I spotted him on the glass at night a couple of days ago and pitched him in the QT. It's about an inch long and I have no idea where he came from. The head doesn't look like the Conc I have.

The critter you seek is a "Whelk" :)

Most definitely doesn't resemble a nassarius snail - the true test? Put some meat in front of it! (but not until you move it into a sump!)

There's no sand in the QT. The only thing in there is some GSP, some recovering Hollywood Stunner, a Bumblebee, and a large red Star. When I feed the star today I'll put something in front of him and see if he attacks it.

I put a piece of Krill in front of it. It happened so fast I didn't really see what it used, but suddenly it was like the krill was harpooned and reeled in.

Whelks have an operculum (protective covering over their foot), nassarius do not. But, by your description, probably whelk. They will actively hunt other snails.

Goosebumps!!!!!

All of my nassarius snails have an operculum, not necessarily just a predatory whelk feature.
