Hello,
I’ve been wanting to add a predatory tank in my living room and figured a 36”x 30” x 16” tall would fit perfect in the corner. Would that be too small? The total water volume is about 75gallons excluding the sump. I may add some sps and mostly rock work.

I would like a eel and trigger to start off, I’m just not sure if that’s acceptable or not considering the tank would only be 36” at the longest point.

hopefully someone with a similar tank could help out.

thanks in advance

I would be reluctant to add a trigger to a tank that size....even a blue throat. How about a small eel like a golden dwarf moray and a small species of lion fish?

My bluethroat was a very active fish and used the entire length of my 6' tank.

Hopefully some the guys more familiar with predator tanks will chime in soon!

You can do a Caribbean theme predator tank. Some fish that you can try are the chalk bass, cardinals, hi hats or lantern basslet. They all stay relatively small. The basses are actually miniature groupers.
