Preferred substrate

Getting ready for a big move and decided to change my substrate while moving the tank. Currently have a 40 breeder with caribsea fine grain sand. I hate it... blows around way too much.

Was thinking of switching to tropic eden mesoflakes or reef flakes. Or staying with caribsea but getting the special grade.

Anyone use these before or have any suggestions? Thanks!

Recently changed my tank and substrate and went with special grade. I lose a lot less to siphoning and doesn't blow around.

Also, would it be better to use dry sand or “alive” when switching over?
