Preparing for power outage

Also look at the fuel consumption. If you’re pulling say 700w, you might only get an hour or two out of the fuel tank on one that small.

Thanks. I looked at the specs before I bought it. A full tank will last about 5 hrs @ 50% load. The heater won’t be on the whole time, so I am looking somewhere in the ballpark of 3.5-4 hrs.

I have an APC battery that will run a wavemaker for 4-5 hours and a portable generator in the garage for major emergencies.

Make sure ya got some stabilizer and at least a 5 gal can full of mixed solution on hand after that full tank is topped off. Been in a scenario after an outage where i couldnt get gas for a few days.

The generator rental with extension cords is great if you know when the power will be out. Check out the MACNA 2018 video by Julian Sprung posted by BRS. He has some good advice. In my area, wildfires are a concern. I installed a transfer switch and bought a portable generator so I can run both of my tanks (all equipment) plus the fridge, TV, coffee maker, etc...
