I plan on soon getting my house treated for termites, and pest (water bugs, and ants). The termite treatment will take place outside, on the exterior of my home so I am not overly concerned with that, but the pest treatment will be done in the interior of my home. I am sure whatever the pest people use, is harmful to my reef tank. I wanted to get some advice on what to do to prep for this.

I work for orkin. Make sure the area of your tank is not treated over or aresols are not used in the same room as your tank. If they have to be cover the tank with plastic and turn off the skimmer. The skimmer will pull pesticides into the tank because They are extremely harmful to the tank.

Baits work well for Oriental/American roaches (water bugs). I would recommend those to be used around the tank. Just not over the tank.
I had to treat ants around my tank. I used baits very similar to roach bait with no negative effects.

If you skimmer runs to the exterior I would turn off skimmer and cover the part that sits on the exterior of the house.

If you have further questions please ask.
