id assume this is an No no, but i have a ton of spindles on hand to build out the frame for a canopy. been outside for 6 months or more etc. If painted etc, is there any damage?

You probably don't want to do that. There are copper compounds in the treated wood that are toxic to marine invertebrates and could leach into the tank.
Thats what i was thinking, but figured id ask.

anddddd its really heavy!!

Twisting of the pressure treated lumber would be my concern.

I wouldn't want that stuff anywhere near my tank; nor, frankly inside the house Typical water-born preservatives are chromated copper arsenate, and ammoniacal copper zinc arsenate. Just manage humidity in the hood with a small fan and regular wood/plywood will last for years.

I was just mainly trying to cut a bit of cost and my mind wondered. I've got a note into a local cabinet builder to build me custom bowfront canopy
