Do a lot of you like to pretreat your fish with copper once you get them in the quarantine tank? Or is observing them good enough?

When I get a new fish in, it goes into the quarantine tank.
I don't add medication until I see it eating aggressively.
Then depending on the fish I will slowly add copper over 3-4 days until it's at the therapeutic level.

Cool about to give this a try today.
Is the eating aggressively part just so that you know it is already accustomed to the quarantine tank?

I want to make sure it is eating normally. Not just picking at it.
When you medicate the tank it can alot of the time decrease the fishes appetite.
Then if you slowly raise the copper level, it keeps eating normally. Atleast that's the theory.

Here is a good article for picking medications

Yep, I do the same. If I have the time I also do the ttm (tank transfer method). The last fish that just finished qt were clowns. They went through 14 days of cupramine (after they were eating well), and 2 weeks of prazi pro, one dose per week.
After the cupramine I transferred them to another qt tank to start the prazi.

Oh sweet. I'm new to hearing about that method but it sounds like a good way to get things going
