Pretty sure this isn't a bristle worm. Please help ID it.

Saw this tonight right before lights out. Moving about in the sand. After lights out last night I decided to check things out, to my horror I turned the flashlight on and there was a worm atleast 8 inches long all the way up my glass and when the light hit it, it rushed back under the rock in seconds.

+1 Eunicid worm- once they get big enough, they will eat fish and inverts. I’d definitely flush this guy. If he’s proving hard to catch, try setting a bottle trap overnight. Just cut the top half of a water bottle off, and invert it, so you have a funnel leading into chamber. Then add some food, and wait. An important note: this may also lure your fish in, trapping them with the worm. If you have any tiny fish, I’d find an alternative method, or supervise as much as possible.

I had one that ate almost $20,000 in corals before I realized what was going on when I finally got him out of the tank he was over 3 foot long let me try finding a video

Bristle worms are a type of a eunicid worm. Likely just a bristle.

I know that these worms takes a lot of heat as bad, but in my first tank (46 bow + 10g sump) came with like 20-30 of these. At first, I was trying everything to take them out and the best way was at night with all of the lights off. Just don't grab them with you bare hands. Actually, I don't think I ever trusted gloves due to the discussions at the time.

Eventually, I gave in and started enjoying watching them scavenge at night. I never had any issues with lost frags (zoas, GPS, mushrooms, leathers, xenia, hammer/frogspawn, etc). Obviously a lot of people have though.

Then I downsized to a 15g DT + 20g acrylic next to it with a mantis (paid for). I went out of my way to save 4-5 for the 15G DT and IMHO they were a find CUC. Even if they were not a CUC they were fun to watch.

I found a small one that I chopped into a million pieces. If I catch the big one I can save it for you, but only if you're in Canada.

That looks exactly like the worm in question. When I did my own research this was the worm I came to a conclusion on.
