So i lost all my fish last week due to velvet and some due to misunderstanding the dosing of cuprion.

I had 2 clowns , a brown tang, and another tang... for a few months no issue. I added a blue tang and CUC from a different LFS and the tang died within two weeks with no visible signs( or i should says signs that i had no clue about). I added a angel and a yellow tang from a new LFS and they were doing fine and after two weeks, then last week the brown tang was just sitting on a rock going back and forth, the yellow tang was by the power head (again i had no knowledge of what this meant) The yellow tang started looking pale and died in the am. In the evening the brown tang was covered with spots and pale, while gasping for air (Velvet i presume). In short did everything to save them after doing some reading..

Going forward here is my plan. I currently have a 220 gal tank with corals and CUC. my goal is to have a maximum of 20 fish. I would like to add them all at once to minimize any outbreaks, as well as getting them from the same FS.

I would like to treat every fish whether they have a disease or not to be on the safe side.
Any suggestions and in any order of doing this is welcome.

I will be installing a UV sterilizer this weekend. I will fallow the tank for a period of 45 - 76 days. (not sure if ICH was present) I will ghost feed the tank and corals.

Each fish will get a FW dip.
I would like to treat with prazi and cuprion.
I would like to TTM each fish.
I have set up a QT/HT, but i will have that just in case something should pop up in the future.
What do you think. any suggestions on the length of time for treatments etc.

My biggest concern is when adding corals how do i prevent water from the FS from getting in my tank that could possibly have parasites etc. Will coral dip take care of this? As for clams/sponges i read somewhere that they should never be exposed to air, so how do i go about that without getting the FS water transferred..

Thank you all

For minimizing the potential to bring in fish parasites, you can remove the base/plug or anything other than coral itself (remove dead bits).. It works for most SPS, but for LPS and Zoanthids, it becomes impossible due to the fact that grow skeleton and/or grow on rocks. If you want to be much more certain, I would recommend having a coral QT set up and to keep all new additions in there for 76 days. This is what I do. All corals, inverts, snails.. all go through QT in a separate tank.

I intend on following the QT trend, but other than keeping them there for 76 days, what am i doing for the corals to be exact...what treatments do you use other than a dip... Thanks

There are no treatments for coral to prevent ich being brought into the tank. All ich treatments would kill coral. Best to clip the coral from the plug and wait it out.
