Is $900 a good price for a 120 gallon starfire (3 sides) with a center overflow or should I look for a better deal? It's from sc aquariums. I'm new to saltwater and am trying not to waste money. I've been looking a full system's vs just buying an aquarium and building the rest. I just haven't had enough experience to know what a good price point is right yet.

First, let me say welcome to R2R.

From all I've read, SC Aquariums are pretty well made. I had a CadLight 120g and I understood (could be wrong) that one of their builders left CadLight and started SC. I was quite happy with my CadLight system and they don't have a great reputation as far as service after the fact. I paid $2300 delivered for the tank, stand, sump, skimmer, return pump and all the plumbing.

If the tank is in really excellent condition, I don't think $900 is excessive, but I don't think it's a great deal either. You should contact SC Aquariums and see what they would charge for a new 120g tank. BTW, I assume this is just a tank? If it comes with a stand that's better. If it comes with a sump, that's even better.

Good luck.
