okay, i understand price phisching is "strictly prohibited," so i would like some suggestions on how to find out from my fellow reefers how exactly to figure out a price to sell something for?

i have a micromussa colony i would like to figure out a fair price, and the thread was closed. i was not trying to sell it here, and even said i was going to sell it locally or at a swap. how else am i supposed to figure out what something is worth, without asking my fellow reefers?

i don't want to scr#w anyone, or even ask some jerky price for a piece of coral, i would just like to know a fair price. can't ask at the golf cart forum i participate at. can't go to wal-mart to find out. don't want to charge the price of an lfs.

how, or where, can i find out from my buddies here what they think something is worth?

Im not sure on pricing but what if you show a picture to a LFS? Tell them something along the lines of "im looking for a coral like this can you get it and how much would you sell it for?" It might be dirty but at least you'll get your answer :-O

your best bet is look around the selling threads, and retail websites.

You can ask people through PM is you like. However, many times people try to use it as an auction of sorts. That is why we must not allow it in any way.

speaking of this, where is the ULA? It's kind of difficult to know what's allowed and what's not if it's only visible when you register for an account. Maybe I just haven't noticed it.

Could it be added to the FAQ area?

yes, research is a very good way to go about it. when your ready post the price you think is fair if you are not getting the responses you like or its not selling, lower you price. i sometimes think if it as a reverse ebay.

on the other side its a way to get something at a good price as you watch it drop you jump on it when you think its a fair price or dont buy the item(s).

Here is a revised one that we keep and we also edit it as we go to include items that we may have missed.

Thing that kills you is how much is needed and most of it just says act like an adult. lol :)

Just sell it for what you want to sell it for. How much do you want for the colony?? List it if no hits then edit price.
