Is it me or did the market kinda shift ? I guess I’m really talking about corals that used to be super expensive are now (relatively cheap) and things that used (relatively cheap) are now expensive… was just on barrier reef aquariums looking at stuff really impressed with prices on corals I like and disappointed on others I like… but then the high end acros have stayed stable(expensive/ no change) along with lobos and scollys..

I think retailers and vendors stocked up on livestock hoping for the same traffic that 2020-2022 had. But at least in my area, reefing has died down quit a bit since. Lots of coral in the market right now. But pricing is always all over the place.

I thought I was having a stroke while reading that title lol. In the long term, this hobby has gotten much more expensive (in terms of coral), and while I wasn't even alive when this happened, I've heard older reefkeepers recall when the overall prices of coral was much lower. Before designer variants were a thing and marine aquaculture was a few years old and just getting started. I've heard that you used to be able to get huge grown-out colonies for a fraction of the price, think large zoa rocks for $15

Like euphylia used to be cheap ya you had your expensive variations but green was always pretty inexpensive I just saw a 5 head Duncan colony for 150 but then individual heads of zoa/paly that used to be 75-150 a head colony’s of 10-15 are 50-75… acans/blastos of just normal colors not rainbow used to be relatively cheap and are now weirdly expensive

Think rock flower nems before antic blue and uv lighting but that goes for a lot of corals… spent a lot of time at tropicorium with Dick Perrin…
