I am not familiar with pricing but I asked my local forum for some live rock and someone reached out with this picture.

Supposedly, it has been curing since April and dosed with pods.

He asks for $6 a pound. I don't think its worth it. I don't see any major coralline.

What would you pay for this or at least justifiable.

"Live Rock" can be a misleading term. It's technically "live" if it's been sitting in bottled bacteria for a couple weeks but it sounds like what you're looking for is real ocean live rock which has coralline and far more biodiversity. I would advise live ocean rock as well. If it's been in an aquarium for a while, I wouldn't say the price is bad though.

Yeah, I wouldn’t pay much for that. Look into aquacultured Florida live rock if you want the best of the best. If budget is a concern, you can mix cheap dry rock and pricy aquacultured rock.

well considering if you buy new dry rock from LFS, it cost $3 per lbs, and you will get nice looking large pieces of rock

Those rocks look like small, misshapen, leftover pieces, it will be hard to aquascape with that.

Personally, I would get new dry rock at $3 per lbs (reefsupplies.com), and cure it myself in a seperate tank for a few months before using.

10 per pound for large premium live rock , seems about right but a little high. I'd probably pay 4 a pound for that? I also fly in bristle worms from Hawaii when I start a tank so who knows if anyone should be listening to me :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Looks like junk rocks to me. I would not purchase them.

As Mr. Mojo Rising stated above, "Those rocks look like small, misshapen, leftover pieces, it will be hard to aqua scape with that".
