I'm not sure if Prime would interfere with Paracleanse; if you're hoping to use Prime for ammonia control, though, then I wouldn't bother - current evidence suggests it's not useful (and that results showing otherwise are from test kit interference):

While prime will not affect paracleanse, do not add prime direct to tank as it does NOT remove ammonia as claimed and Paracleanse does not do what the bottle claims and rarely works and even though it contains Prazi, still ineffective. If you think you have parasites or other condition, please describe what you are seeing and even provide video and pics under white light intensity for best medications.

Yes:

Paracleanse is NOT useless, as I said, it is identical to General Cure, and we use/recommend that all of the time. These may not be the right product to use in this case, but they both work equally well for their intended uses. Rally Pro is not effective against flukes, these products are.

Thanks, you're not the first to tell me this stuff doesn't work, but also I've heard differently. Hard to know who's right and who's wrong. I'm just quarantine new fish and they spent 14days in copper and I was going to treat for possible parasites. Maybe I'll skip that and add them to my dt instead.

I'm just quarantine new fish and they spent 14days in copper and I was going to treat for possible parasites. Maybe I'll skip that and add them to my dt instead.

Copper treatment should last for 30 days; the link I posted above goes through and describes exactly what's in Prime and why it's not useful (in high enough quantities, it's actually more harmful than the ammonia it's trying to remove).

Humble.Fish says you can do 14 days copper and then to observation tank.

For amine chelated copper products, you should run it full dose for 30 days. Ionic copper is harsher, but you still need to run that for 21 days. The 14 days is wrong, and comes up because it’s “fast”.

I think his 14-day recommendation still comes with two more weeks of observation period in a different tank. Basically a copper then tank transfer. And not 14-day of copper then good for DT.

I apologize if I've come across as combative - that's not my intent. 14 days may or may not work (according to Jay, it doesn't, and he's been a marine disease expert for several years, so I do lend that some weight), but I guess I would personally take the approach of "better safe than sorry" with a tank full of fish.

If you feel comfortable running just 14 days, then you can; all I'm saying is the recommended 30 days would be safer.

Copper lasts way more than 30 days- just recommended use for 30 days

Same qualities but not as effective with content. Many compare it to GC and its not identical but comparable to. Its a core belief but ive seen more persons with no results using paracleanse that that that had good results

I always use Amquel for emergency ammonia control. Prime may or may not work as advertised, but there is just too much opinion out that that it doesn't work well for me to be comfortable with it.

Paracleanse is identical to Paraguard - not sure which one has the trademark/copyright, but they have identical ingredients. I try to avoid dosing those products with copper, but coppersafe has been used by others with both of them with no apparent detrimental results.

IMO - the best way to control ammonia in a QT is to use bacteria from an established tank; from either a sponge filter or ceramic media (not calcium based substrate).

Hello, Ive got a spare 20g for qt but havent used it, besides for a temp goldfish setup. I have a fluval hob filter and i plan on using that for when qt time comes. Should I just keep the sponge in my sump when not in use? IF so how do i sterlize post qt and get it back in dt? or do i just toss media .
