Hello guys,,,

I need to upgrade my fuge light. I keep reading about the regue light needs to out perform the DT lights. I currently have 3 Prime HD light on the DT, can someone explain to me, how 1 fuge light can out perfrom 3 DT? is it to do with the PAR intensity / colour settings etc?

thanks in advance

Depends on what you are trying to grow in the fuge. If you are growing chaeto or macro algaes in an attempt to keep algae from growing in the display, I would suggest a light that is for growing plants. Something with less blue and more red end of the spectrum. AI makes a freshwater version that grows algae like crazy. I have a single freshwater AI Prime over my fuge and 2 XR30 Radions over the display running at 80%. The fuge light definitely outperforms the Radions in terms of algae growth, but the display grows Coral like crazy.
You don't necessarily have to have more wattage or intensity to make a fuge light effective, it needs to be in the correct spectrum for what you are trying to do. Same holds true for the display.

Yeah im trying to grow Chaeto. The AI prime hd fuge light is mainly reds, its been set up for this reason. but your right, my DT are mainly blue's and white.. makes sense now you say about the red settings... I currently have 1 white (did y re-search with the correct par settings) but i might add a 2nd red grow light.. see if that helps.

Myself I would just get some white LED from the hardware store.
