I use a cheaper product called API Tap Water Conditioner. I use 4-5 capfulls in a 5 gallon bucket for a hour, then hang out to air dry.
I rinse mine under high pressure water in laundry tub. There is probably no need for bleach. If you want to use it plain sodium thiosulfate will be much cheaper. Rinse them well and put in a bucket of water with thiosulfate for a couple minutes. Letting them dry etc is also probably enough. Some people have also dosed low dose bleach in their tanks but that’s another discusaion

I add bleach to all my wash loads of socks (mixed 4" and 7" Micron 50 socks so they capture a lot) on the heavy duty cycle extra rinse cycle extra long spin then throw into the dryer for 60min on high. Done. Just make sure the bleach is plain old bleach with no additives like no splash or anything else. It needs to be pure bleach.
It actually does depend on a couple things. Like I said - I don't use bleach at all - but depending on the amount of bleach used (and the strength of the bleach) - it may take longer or more rinsing/drying. Some people want a 'double check' - or maybe want to rinse them quick and be done - without waiting for drying. Again - as I said - there are at least a couple threads where people add bleach itself into a tank for various reasons (while there is livestock inside). So you're right - it's probably a moot point. is bleach residue (after evaporation) safe?
I have been preparing bleach disinfectant lately in a spray bottle and has been spraying on my couch, door mat, door knots, etc... I don't rinse it... So I assume there is bleach residue left afterchemistry.stackexchange.com
Given the fact that it would probably be safe to put back in the tank without doing any drying, you're probably right. However, Bleach is not necessarily 'inactivated' by drying, at least not completely
I have talked to a number of chemists real chemists by trade not play, and they agree and there are lots of scientific papers other information out there. This is not even in debate by the chemistry world. Its settled. Once bleach dries it breaks down into components that pose no harm to our aquariums. Please show me scientific sites or discussions by actual chemists who say otherwise.
