I have four fish in QT right now...a Red Sea Regal Angel, a Potters Angel and two Black Pyramid Butterflies. All are eating fine (even the Regal), so I want to do my first dose of Prazi. My fear now is that I think I added Prime to some tip-off water and I know that you aren’t supposed to mix the two. I recall hearing that Prime is only active for a short period of time, so if it has been a few days (5-7) am I okay?

According to Seachem's site Prime begins to dissipate within 24 hours. But it holds the bonds with ammonia, nitrites for 24-48 hours.

I have never had success in mixing the two. From what I read, its an oxygen thing, so maybe if you add a bubbler to the aquarium that will help. I started adding a bubbler to my QT's, but I have yet to try that again since I didn't have any luck. If you need to use prime first there is no issues to quick start the QT tank. Then you can run carbon for 24 to 48 hours and then run prazi. That is what I did lately with no issues. I placed a couple nice pieces of live rock from my sump in the QT to maintain it.Some people say they do add the two with no issues, so I will let them chime in. I had wrasses when I tried it and it did not work.

I avoid prime and meds but I don’t know them to be a risk together.

Humblefish had advised against using the two together in the past, but it was not much...maybe a gallon or two in a 60g and it was late last week. I don’t plan on using more, it was more of a mistake.

I do have a Bubble wand going in my QT. Fish don’t seem to mind and I figure it can’t hurt.

oh I forgot to add. In my last QT setup I used a product called NeoCarbonit-Z instead of prime. It cycled the QT in days with live rock in it from my display. When I removed the stuff to add meds the tank stayed stable. I'm loving this stuff.
