Back in April I was fortunate enough to win a contest put on by R2R and the prize was a frag pack from Elite Reefs. Well, they had some unfortunate issues that delayed things but Elite Reef kept their promise and delivered a couple frags yesterday. I'm thinking maybe its a chalice (Miami Hurricane maybe??) and an Acan of some sort. Maybe someone can tell me more definite.

The chalice looks kinda of reddish/brown with almost a green "frost" to it and orange eyes. The Acan (I think) is also reddish/brown with a green mouth and it looks almost like white speckles. Can I just superglue the chalice to a plug?

Anyway, thanks a lot to Reef2Reef for doing these cool contests and thanks to Elite Reefs!

But here's the pics (hope it works, not uploading like normal for some reason):

wow did they come in looking like that? they dont look like there doing to well. the chalice should get some color to it once it gets used to your tank. i have bought a few browned out chalices and they have turned into nice pink and blues after a few months.

At least they were free. And they look like they still have a chance to make it. Low light and low flow for awhile. Feed them if you see feeder/sweeper tentacles out at night.. HTH, and congrats on the win!

Yeah that's how they came, I got them and put them straight into a quarantine/frag tank. Maybe I should put them in my main tank though, probably the most stable environment. Or do you think a separate tank is best for now? Wasn't sure if that's how they should look, never ordered a chalice online and only ordered one acan, but that was from DF&S and it was like 7 or so heads so it looked much different.

Sorry they look terrible. Ugh!

Just to be clear we had no hand in the prize or what you got but we will make sure it works out for you if I have to give you frags out of my own tank. Keep me updated.

Yeah I think I'll do that. Thanks for the advice.

You don't have to worry about it Rev, you guys have been good to deal with and I know it isn't your fault. I could see that the corals were obviously stressed and the chalice looks like its freshly broken or something (I was surprised it wasn't mounted on anything) but I really didn't post the pics as a bad thing. They were packed well and I really didn't know what to expect when I posted. I was happy to get anything and hopefully they'll be just fine. Maybe I'll post some pics in a few months when they're looking awesome :)

good luck as others said low flow low light and feed if they will take it. there not dead but look to be on there way.

I was thinking that myself, it kinda looks like they gave him stuff that fell underneath the frag racks that nobody would buy

Thanks for the advice everyone. So far I've moved them to my main tank and not much has changed, which I guess isn't a really bad thing at this point. I haven't seen any feeder tenticles coming out but I'll keep an eye out for that and make sure I feed them when they do.

Very nice and super cool of you to step up especially that you were not directly responsible. Just another reason why this site is above the rest

Almost everything in my tank was shipped. Those pics do not represent typical condition after shipping.

Keep them stable in low flow/light and they look like they will pull through though.

Just to update, I think the chalice is looking much better, getting some color. Not sure if it comes across on the pic, but still looks much better than before. The acan looks about the same I think, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Anything else anyone think I can/should do, or just give it more time?

Ok cool, thanks. I keep looking for feeder tenticles but I haven't seen any on either one yet. Will keep checking though for sure!
