Recently purchased a Pro Clear Aquatics RedFlex sump.

The drain portion is a little different that traditional sumps with the 2 cylinders, rather than an entire baffled section. The pre-cut PVC pipes that came with the sump appear to nearly 8" underwater. Do I need to cut the pipe to meet the typical 1-2"? Or does the cylindrical catch tube change this dynamic?

See pic if still confused

It is down that deep to make the return quiet. So you do not hear the water. It is basically plug and play.

I figured thats why they did it. I was just worried about startups and what not that it wouldnt cause an issue later on when trying to restart flow

Nope you should be good I have a older proclear sump I love it.
