i just got a Pro Clear MPS 250 Protein Skimmer . Dose anyone know anything about them or had any experience with them .

I had one about 6 years ago... I hated it. Very hard to tune in and performance and build quality was very poor compared to any other skimmer I have ever owned. The water level of the skimmer is adjusted by the output tube by raising or lowering it and it never stayed in the position I set it to and through the vibration of the pump would lower on it's own. the cup just sits on top of the body of the skimmer without and sealing and any jarring or slight bump would knock the cup off into the sump. the tube that feed the body and that was connected to the pump wasn't sealed properly and I had to silicone around it to fix that too. The venturi was also a poor design. You would be better off doing water changes every day versus using this skimmer!

They are not bad skimmers. I used many of them and they performed as well as their pump did. The outflow tube was awkward and if I were to purchase another one I would replace the outflow riser with an ASM style straight up outflow. But I've never met a perfect skimmer. These skimmers are considered by many to be second rate but really the most important thing is no matter which skimmer you purchase take care of it and maintain it. They will lose performance over a few months and need a more thorough disassembly and cleaning. Flush the airline tube with RO/DI weekly.
I would use a well maintained Proclear MPS250 and it would do a great job.
