For what? Nobody knows what the problem is yet.
Many of us have seen high Iron counts in the 30-40 range for 1, and thats after testing our fresh made RO/DI water, and I just changed to Red Sea blue bucket the last week so today I'm sending out a new ICP test to prove that there will be no Iron. It was 2 5g water changes with Red Sea and all my corals came back and had polyp extension and started eating away at KH and calc like a big dog.

What size tank do you have? I had the same experience color coming back after 10-15% water changes once I changed to a different salt. Makes me wonder if it is a non-elemental contaminant in TMP and the actual water changes were ticking off the acros then the contaminant was having less of an effect between them. FWIW my Iron and Manganese were undetectable with an ATI ICP of my display during this time...

Just seems weird that small water changes would have a dramatic effect if iron or some other element is severely elevated. @rcunning8 do you agree?

I have a 32.5 and a 15g, both were on TMP, and I do 5g water changes in the 32.5 weekly and every other week in the 15g, both had ICP testing with high iron and losing corals. I couldn't have a digi in my 32.5 it would die in days, now I have a digi and its happy and growing fast.

Which salt mix did you switch to?

I did notice black specs in one of my containers which I dump whatever extra water I had from my water change. And I also had a couple black specs In my brute container. I used Tropic Marin two years back, had a crash sent ICP and had high Iron and couldn’t figure where it was coming from. I switched to Red Sea Blue and my tank slowly recovered and my dying acros and sps recovered. Was it the TMP Idk and i can’t say for sure since this was about 2 years ago but I do recall being able to mix it clear with no residue left in the brute. I also would leave it in my brute as I would make two weeks worth. Anyways switched to Red Sea because of supply issues mainly and would mix fine. I’d get residue on my brute if I didn’t clean after a few weeks and again whatever was left, approximately 2 gallons, I would place in a 5 gallon jug and store it for about a week or so. Anyways fast forward I decided to jump back on the TMP bandwagon and my tank canary which is my bubblegum digi I noticed polyps retracted for about two days following my first water change with TMP of 10%. I didn’t think anything of it because everyone raves about TMP and thought maybe something else was irritating it. So I mix my water and sometimes I would have the 1-2 gallons left over in the brute and thinking it’s ok since they say it’s ok to store TMP after about 2-3 weeks I noticed these same black specs (that I now notice in my 5 gallon jug) that were hard to scrub off and brown residue when I would wipe it down with paper towels. I never had that issue with storing Red Sea although they say you shouldn’t. Something is happening I agree but what it is who knows… I will upload picture of my 5 gallon jug which still has some TMP salt mixed. So I have since switched back to Red Sea

Those numbers are normal for TMP and have been for years. Hans has already confirmed this.

So that's not the issue unless the form of iron has changed somehow.

I'm thinking if people can post the lot numbers. Not sure if this picture is correct on the lot numbers purchased via brs in November unopened box

There is a description on one of these threads that says where the batch numbers are. I believe TM said that they were on a sticker somewhere.

I couldn’t get past that smell , I said chalk my hubby says talc, whatever it was.I tossed 44lbs. Into the trash. I plan on using my stored salt. It’s stored inside a closet in house not in garage. No temperature fluctuations in storing it.

Thanks heres the lot number. Ok guys if you can post the lot numbers see if we can use the salt or not . 50 bucks vs losing your entire coral stock.

I find that hard to believe when myself and many many others have never had iron readings in the past years and just in the past 6-8 months iron has started accumulating and going on. Rodi water tested, and all sorts of others. Look up SBB post on here about it, he has all his IcP tests posted up as it gradually gets worse and others with same issues.

Yes my salt mix container has been turning black, just had to throw it away it wouldn’t clean.

I understand there are others but I also think many many is not true…there are folks like myself that are not having problems, I do think there are folks like yourself that have issues which leads me to believe there is a batch issue..

the last few days here and on Facebook there are polls asking what salt there are using and it’s a split between I/o and tmp…and not one on the polls (Facebook)
which had over 400 saying they use tmp had not reported an issue

and for the record my icp test from almost exactly a year ago shown no iron, so I find the statement plausible
