Just got a new light for my tank and I am thinking about cutting my tank to fit the light. But it would be easier to completly take the lid off. Though i heard tailspot blennys sometimes jump. Ideas?

Rest of inhabitants that could also jump.
Clownfish
Pj cardinals
And yellow goby

Blennies jump yes. However Ive had a bi color and a lawnmower in my tank for about 3 months and neither have jumped. Only fish that jumped was my female clown but she was trying to bite me haha

I meant taking the lid off for the new light: meaning no lid at all.
You will probably find a fish on the floor sooner than later if you remove the screen lid. They can jump.

Of course, the likelihood of any jumping directly corresponds to any imminent arrival of a new lid...
Yeah Im in the process of making my screen lid for my 125 as my 70 has a lid!

Does anybody also have any experience with 247 marine+ SE cmb30 light? Also, would it be good for soft corals by going with the standard 24 hour light cycle that comes with the light.

I’ve never had lids on my tanks, blennies have never jumped on me.

I would recommend a lid.

I’ve only had one jumper (firefish) who jumped when I was doing my weekly cleaning, but I didn’t see him jump and I lost him.
Would there still be a chance of jumping if theres about 6in of space between the water and the top of the tank? I havent had a fish break water in like 2 years.

Conclusion: i think im gonna take the risk, the fish i have done ever really go to the top of the water except for my clowns which sometimes fo but i mighr get a cover for the spot when the do go to the top
