I upgraded from a 40 breeder to a 120 ish cube ( 40 x36 x21 ) it is made of acrylic. I bought it used and have had nothing but issues since starting it . I have lost countless fish in this tank. However the coral does well. inverts do well. It is just the fish I am having issues with. I thought I might have introduced something so I took out the last holdout a red head fairy wrasse . I have now been about 11 weeks fallow . Before I put another fish in . Does anyone know of something the previous owner might have added to the tank that might have leached in the acrylic or if the acrylic will even allow this . I am at my wits end and ready to go back to a 40 breeder .

Whats your parameters? Any stray voltage? Was it up and running when you got it? Do you have anything in the tank like emerald crabs, turbo snails, c.u.c.?

tank was not running. I had a stray voltage issue, but with no path to ground. It would bite me with my hand in the water. I have not tested since I went fallow but will before I put another fish in the tank . I have kept saltwater tanks for twenty years so all the basics I think are covered . That being said this really has me stumped the first fish I lost were ones I had had for several years. One thing was the sand was given to me it was in a barrel .I don't think it was rinse well if at all. my assistant did this as I was not home. The only test I have not run is ammonia will do it today

No, whatever was in the tank before is long gone. If the tank was left empty for any amount of time before you got it, your safe. Corals would be more susceptible to bad water than fish are. If you had ammonia in the water, your corals would not be doing well. They would even start to give you trouble above 30 on the Nitrate table.
Only thing I can think of is how are they acclimated to your tank? Drip for at least 2 hours would be my recommendation. If they water they are coming from is that different than yours, that would make it hard for them to acclimate. That and if one of your other fish brought something in the tank with it. But being fallow for 11 weeks, you may want to give it another shot.
