Would it be stupid to put a few small geodes in my aquarium or would that poison things inside my aquarium? I have a few that I think would look well inside it.

Do you clean algae off your glass? You'd likely have the same thing cover the crystal surfaces inside the geode. They are very cool on a shelf, but probably look crappy after a couple weeks in the aquarium.

Interesting chemistry question? I know a lot of them have beautiful insides but I wonder what elements are present that might go into solution?

That's probably a good thought. Maybe a few blue leg hermits could take care of it.

Feel like it is not the best idea, but I am no chemist

I know that the crystals are made of quarts and other safe stuff, but my main problem is the rock. I don't know too much about the outside rock parts.

I wouldn’t, they could leach ....?
Yeah, when it comes to reef aquariums, if in doubt, throw it out (out of the aquarium, they look pretty cool and I don't want to throw it away).

Do snails and hermit crabs keep your glass clean? Then it's extremely unlikely that they would keep a geode clean. Sorry.

I haven’t done this in a reef but I did do this on a 55g freshwater tank and it looks pretty cool. had the tank up for over a year with no issues just got bored with freshwater once I started reefing
