Dear R2R members,
I am pretty much new into the reef aquariums, only one year old.
I have a problem with my rising Kh level, but i will write down a small history, so you can understand my situation better, and based on that someone could solve my problems, with good advice.

When i started my system (400l display + about 100l sump) i have had NO3 and PO4 on absolute zero. In one moment i added 7 fishes in the same time, and one of them was acanthurus hybrid, thet started a big fight with my acanthurus xantropheus.
After one day in order so save fishes i took out all my stones and corals out, and catched the problematic fish.
That was at the beggining of november. My NO3 and PO4 levels started rising.
One and the half month after that, i noticed ciano bloom all over the rock. Started with water changes and siphoning, but that did not gave me results for one and a half months more.
In the meantime i started vodka dozing and my NO3 and PO4 levels droped. I also lost 2 of the biggest acropora frags in the proces.
Last week i used chemiclean, and with 2 treatments i killed ciano.
After the treatment i started dossing bacto blend ( Fauna marine) and i am now in day 3 of initial dosing period.
I also have a rising NO3 - 10 and PO4-0.1 issues, that i plan to solve vith vodka.
But my biggest problem is raising Kh issue. In the past 2 months i havent added anu Kh, or Ca into the tank. And after water change my Kh is 10-10.5 and after that it slowly rise on it's own.
Last thing that happened is that it gone up from yesterday 10.5 to todays 11.5 ( in 24h)
Also today i noticed small ammount of alge ( brown looking ciano) on the tips of acropora frags that are bleached and cutted by me yesterday.
My current parameters are:
Salinity: 1.024
NO3: 10
PO4: 0.1
Kh: 11.5
Ph: 8.3
Ca: 440
Mg: 1290

I used cycled dry stone for start, and sand bed is about 4cm (1.5 inch) tick.

Doese anyone have any idea, why my Kh is rising on it's own, and what can be the couse?
I would also like to state that i am mixing new salt water over night, so it's not fake test results. And my RO/DI water with the same test shows 0-Kh.

Probably be helpful to know the dkh of your salt and why are you only at .024 salinity?
Cheers! Mark
Hello, and thanks for your reply.
I still haven't meassured dKh of my freshly made salt water. I was following the logic that it is not a problem, since my dkh is lower after the water change, and it rises after a day or two. I am using Aquaforest reef salt, and i will deffinetly make some small ammount of fresh salt water and do the test. About low salinity - I tried to lower the salinity so, i can lower mu dkh. I used 2 water changes of 20% according the chemiclean treatment instruction, for this purpose.
It is still mistery to me, why it rises after day or two, and i am letting the salt to disolve over night, so i am sure, that it is fully disolved.
Anyway, i will post dkh of my salt water on salinity 1.025- 1.026, today.
