Hello, i recently purchased the XTAQUA sumpless AOT for my tank and I was wondering if you need to have the surface skimmer part hooked up, ( I already have a surface skimmer) because every time I try to hook it up it just that there is a bubble interference which I do not know how to fix! Has anyone else had the same problem?

I’m currently using it on my QT. The surface skimmer must be on for the system to work. Without the skimmer pump on, the water level in the “sump” will be the same as the tank, defeating the purpose of the smaller surface area which makes the ato consistent.

where are you getting bubbles from?

I use one in a sumpless tank I have. Yes, you need the skimmer box and pump hooked up. You have to fiddle with the height a bit after a water change, but once you get it set, it works really well. The light on the little controller flashes often, but that just indicates that the sensor is seeing waves. It does not effect it's operation.

I honestly have no idea where the bubbles are coming from, the reason I didn’t want the surface skimmer part was because I already have one on my tank
