So kind of frustrated, I lost my tank to ich/velvet a little while back and just finally got fish back in. So I ran the main display tank fallow for 90 days, and setup a qt tank 14 days out and ran a 14 day treatment of seachem paragard. Got everyone transferred and everything was doing well for the past month.

Now my royal gramma, and clowns are starting to flash. I have no visible signs of ich so I'm thinking it might be flukes or something else. I prefer not to move everything out again, and was wondering if I should run a course of prazipro in case it is flukes. Also I have a fromia starfish that I really don't wanna lose, so not sure if this effects it. Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Before running anything in the display, it is possible to catch one fish and perform a fw dip to check for flukes?

I could probably give it a shot, I've heard the flukes may not be present though on the dip

Prazipro is supposed to be reef safe.

I’ve used in my sps tanks before with no issues. Just need to make sure tank is well aerated.

Paraguard won't erradicate ich/velvet. You will probably need to remove fish and go fallow again.

Treat fish with copper in QT. You need to treat them for 30 days.

Or 14 days if you have a second sterile QT they can be transferred to after 14 days in therapuetic copper.

Love how they advertise that it will. Guess that's just a lie?

Unfortunately this hobby is full of things that are falsely advertised. We as hobbyists are left to figure it out for ourselves. Which is why R2R is such a great resource!

So I guess I'll give the fw dip a try, see if I see any flukes. Go with prazi, if not time to take everything out again. Recommendations on meds? Prazi and ich x?

Copper or CP and General cure or Prazi.

Ich X has the same problem that Paragard does, it won’t eradicate the parasites.

Would you agree with the fresh water dip for flukes first if there are no apparent signs of ich?

If there are no flukes and you have to treat for ich, Do not put copper in your DT. Only do that in a QT. Good luck. Pics help the experts with diagnosis. I am not an expert.

So just did the freshwater dip and nothing came off and I noticed some white spots, so it's definitely ich. Have the fish all moved over from the dt to the qt. Just started copper power. Should I go 30 days with the copper then start the prazi? Also is the recommendation for a fallow period 72-90 still?

Thanks for the reply, it was definitely ich, just did a fresh water dip and saw the spots on my clowns. Hopefully I've got them all over the the qt tank in time! Fingers crossed!

Don't forget any of the tiny fish. They all gotta go to the QT. Good luck!

No less than 76 days fallow. Make sure your QT is at least 10 feet away from your DT. In a seperate room would be better

Got them all just gotta find a temporary home now for my mandarin

The Mandy will need to go through TTM or you will just end up with ich in your tank again.

76 days fallow.

30 days therapuetic copper. If using same tank. Once you remove copper then you can start prazi.
