problems drilling bulkheads too close for standpipes, bean animal setup?

i'm being curious.

i've seen most holes drilled a fair distance apart in a linear fashion - and there must be a reason, ie to help with maintenance?

is there anyone who has drilled 2-3 holes at in the corner of the display tank in a triangular configuration in order to save space in the display tank? let me see if i can explain --- imagine 3 holes - the one in the corner for the emergency drain, the other 2 for the full siphon and the bean animal setup (not sure if i got that right). so you would angle the overflows around or above each other in order to save space.

i haven't seen anyone do this (as per my research) and there must be reason? any disadvantage to doing it this way apart from the clutter, and no real advantage of gainining some real estate of the display tank?

your thoughts would be interesting.

Pretty sure it has to do with the structural integrity of the glass or acrylic. Placing the holes close together causes excess stress.

Too many holes too close together might cause structural issues. It all depends on the bottom of your tank, ie the material, the thickness of the bottom, the size of the holes, etc.
