Hello fellow members, I'm in of some help of trying to find out what going on in my tank. These pass two weeks was nothing but headaches and figuring out what the problem. So far I found that that my tank was under an ick invasion and since I don't have a quarantine set up things are difficult. I been using "Ick-Attack" for the pass week and already lost a Fame Angel and today a Clown fish. I do have a UV unit running but only 12 hours day. Now my other three clown fish have this white slime or some things similar to those symptoms. I don't know what to do and I would highly appreciate for the help.

Sounds like Brooklynella on fhe Clowns. Not much you can do for them, unless you could medicate the tank water quality plays a big role in this also. Do you have high Trates or Ammonia?.

Ammonia levels are at 0.00 ppm and Nitrates are 0.05 ppm. Going to do a water after work. Also what type of medication will help these guys out?

Set up a QT ASAP. Those poor FISH... If its brooknellya they need to get out of that water and into clean water asap. You should also get them some kind of garlic through their food... Thera a has some garlic? It might be worth looking at

You need to get them into a QT tank stat so they can breath. Basically the parasite is breeding in your tank and your fish is not getting ANY break. If you get them into a QT they will at least have some chance to breathe. A QT is easy and cheap to setup and can be done for less than $50. Get a 10g tank and throw a HOB filter on it and your done. The sooner you do this the better...

Good luck, and keep us posted... I lost 4 fish to this last month its NASTY.

Thanks for the tip I just picked up a 20 gallon. Question...what about display tank? Do I need to remove everything again?

You can leave everything except the fish in the tank. inverts / corals / LR will be fine.

The parasite can live up to 6-9 weeks. During that time no fish should be added to the tank.

The added benefit to this also is that you can now treat your QT tank with chemicals you wouldnt normally treat in your DT as well.

Formalin dips/baths are the standard treatment for brooklynella hostilis. The sooner treatment begins, the better. Any fish exposed to the disease are at risk, not just the clowns.

Here's a link to detailed and practical information about the disease, including diagnosis and treatment: Brooklynella

Thanks for the help. I happy to say that I was able to save all my fish from this nasty parasite. They have been recovering in their QT tank and I'm slowly waiting for the remain pest to die out in the display tank. It been a week and half, so I still have a few more weeks before returning them to their home. Once again Thank you all for your help and guidance to save my fishes.

We'll sounds like you gotta dose your whole tank I use kordon products if you have corals use the kordon ich made from natural herbs safe for corals and all fish... and your clowns have brook..if you can catch the clowns who have the brook put them in a bucket with ro water and kordon has rid ich plus mix that with the water let the fish sit for 15 mins throw them back into the tank if you can't catch them you could use rid ich straight in the tank but slowly dose it and I would do every 2 day or 3 day water changes with all this dosing and remove carbon from filters
