Wanting to get this right so I figured I’d ask. I just got a CBB and today he ate mysis (received him yesterday) but I also want to get him eating some clams for nutrition purposes.

I picked up some fresh clams at the market today. Do I freeze them first and then shave off pieces? Shuck them and then freeze? Go totally fresh?

Would love to hear how you all are using them.

Thanks!

Easier to cut small pieces off if they're frozen. Whether you freeze in shell or out is up to you as they peel out easily either way.
Check out Paul b s homemade feeders..

Thanks, I talked with Paul, froze them last night. Tossed one in this am on the half shell and he wanted nothing to do with it lol. I’ll give him some time but I might shave some off in the mean time to peak his interest

Ya try enticing him with smaller pieces first.

I started mine on live Brine... Then frozen Mysis and Brine...Then added clam... I froze the clam and half shelled it and scored the meat with a razor to make small pieces that it could tear off easily... On about the 3rd try of clams it decided it liked them... The CBB if the only fish in my frag tank.... It only gets a clam every other day now.... Plus Brine and Mysis... It will still not eat flakes, pellets or any of the other prepared foods. Good luck CCB are one of my favorite fish
