Well after thinking about it for a while i decided Sand it just one more thing to clean.... And with my CUC i havent touched ours in a LONG time!
Time to take it out.... Not Bit by Bit. But all in one whack!

Heres how we did it.

First get everything ready. Towels on the floor, Buckets Bins and water ready and mixed ( had 60 gallons made)

Then Take corals and fish out of the display and stick in sump. I ran my return lines back to the sump for this. And left the water self circulating.

Drain water into Bins

Then stick rocks in bins.

Now Clean up your mess!

Find your Dang trouble making pistol shrimp! Then save and put in your sump to admire later.

Scrub your empty tank down. And clean all the powerheads.
And start filling the tank back up. Add rocks and water.

Now realize you cant see crap! And panic a little

Then say Thank god i have extra filtersocks and relax!

Now look at the time and realize 3 hrs just went past!
Restock and admire your increased flow. ( 2 PH on bottom back wall)

BB all the way. Everyone can keep their sand. And mine I actually gave it all away !

I would love to go BB but my diamond goby, dragonets, carpet nem... all would be very unhappy.

Well BB is the way to go. I dont have any Phos and water is clearer. Im able to see and deal with my detritus. It stays in the water Column. Just have to take a lil time each day to clean the rocks. They still have a lil left from the switch But the glass bottom is clean!

Love it and corals seem happy er also. Now i can start filling it full of corals. Need my LED light to come in so i can start growing some coraline!

Good job. Never had a BB tank but have thought about it.

great , im actually doing it this weekend myself on a all lps system ,,,,

Revhtree Try it you might like it..............

Kingator That should be interesting. Make sure to post a thread on it. Plan on taking some time. Its not that bad just plan everything and commit. Make sure to have MORE than enuf mixed water on hand. And filter socks lots of them lol. I didnt loose a thing durring the move and would never look back.

kingator Yea i would make some just incase. You never know whats going to go wrong. I made sure i made enough to compleatly replace all 75 gallons! Im going to do a water change tomorrow and suck out all the sand thats collected from the rocks. Then ill be clean!
