ProCoral's Rainbow Acro

I'll try and get a shot this week... I have about a 4" colony baking under a 400 wt radium halide. I have frags of it all over the tank and you do have to move it around to find that sweet spot. The colony is mostly red/pink with a hint of orange. Frags in lower light are orangeish with a blue encrusting base. In ideal light you should see pink/red/orange with the blue encrusting growth ring. I think it grows fastest under high flow and light though...

Awesome way to find out where stuff looks the best. I often make small frags of my favorite stuff and move them around too and see how they look in different places. And you can have a nice encrusted frag to sell later. win/win!

I could not agree more Dankreef! I have all new T5 Bulbs that I have ready for my change at the end of the month. You can tell I need new Actinics by how dim the light is in my pic. I'll get that blue growth edge rocking again with some new bulbs! :)

You know I have to ask what combo now? I'm running 8x80 2 actinic, 4 blue+, 2 coral+ and its beautiful. I have tried almost every combo except the aqua blue special bulbs. That combo looks amazing.

8x80 on an ATI Sunpower (2 ATI Actinic, 3 Aqua Blue, 2 Geisseman Mid Day, 1 ATI Blue Plus). I like the growth of the Mid Day, but its soooo yellow!

Not sure on the Geisseman never tried them. My bulbs are like 14' off the water and I still get 300-350par mid tank 24' tall tank. Yellow is yuck! :) The blue + gives off more par I think and its a sky blue.

Can't wait to see it!

Here is a few shots of mine. When I first got it about a year ago it had the red and orange on it. It had a slight tank crash and some recession and now I have this. I had it directly under a fishneedit 150 watt metal halide but I recently upgraded to a 150 watt cayman sun. After reading this thread I moved the one on the plug over so it's not directly under the light. Hopefully more color will show up. Any other ideas? Thanks

Up until a couple days ago, the center of my tank was receiving PAR of 520. If I were to make a educated guess, I would say that the Rainbow is receiving PAR of about 430. Here are a couple older day light shots of other colonies.

dude i love the idea of the frag racks to grow out your acros, it should look very cool all grown in

I was advised to give it more light . Move it up . His is getting the blue in it at the bottom now .

My frag n advise came from this .Before the blue came in it .

The frag I got from him .

Thank you very much, FaviaFreak! I took some new pics for you below.

Hi Ben - I have only one piece of LR in my entire set up. I'd say it weighs less than 10 pounds. I only added it to serve as shelter for my fish at night. I'll get you over here to see the tank in person one of these days :) James (Sorry for the bad formatting... My return button doesn't work when I use my HP pavilion to post on R2R)
