Prodibio Bio Digest Pure Garbage

Canisters can also be heavy waste traps, and that aqua clear is intended for freshwater realistically. Good luck, it sounds like it is an uphill battle. carbon dosing will work, but be careful to not overdose.
Yes Jose if a cannister is maintained it will work well. As far as the Aquaclear it is great, much superior to the Marineland 400.

I Am in my 8th week of Vodka Dosing have been running around 100-120PPM Nitrates. Today it was 20 PPM really starting to move now,

I don’t want to get off track too much here but I’d like to get some system descriptions... how large is the tank? Do you have a sump? What skimmer do you have? What is your normal maintenance regime? Why do you scrub the rocks every couple of months.

If we can get to the bottom of the issue maybe we can find the preventative maintenance you need so less cure is needed in the future.??.

On the prodibio product. I used it with great success when I was having cyano issues due to starting with dry rock. I used it for a number of months and weened off of it after that. Some things work in some situations and not for others.

Vodka/vinegar dosing does work. I was there and it can take months. I don’t believe the bacteria alone will work fast but could speed things up a bit. You said you clean your rocks every 2 months? There certainly could be some cause of the high nitrates. If true your washing a away your bacteria also.

Dear Dr. Tutu, My tank is 120 G, No sump, My Skimmer is a HOB Coralife 125. I usually do a 25% water change every month. I scrub the rocks about every 4 months now. I was told it would help remove Nitrates. Many Thanks

Rob. You make a good point about the rocks. I will be so glad to stop this practice it is a real pain. Thanks

13 largish fish in a 120 is a lot of bio load, at least in my opinion. Also, that coral life skimmer leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure what is better in the HOB world but I’d be sure to look into an upgrade. Tunze made a great one a few years back but haven’t looked for years.

I have good biofilter. I run Marineland 400, Aquaclear 110, FX5 Fluval Canister with 3 trays of bio blocks. The Coralife 125 is not the best however it does pull out a Dark Green Pasty Skimmate. I don't get a great deal of Skimmate. I will have to stick to a HOB Skimmer.

I can tell you from personal experience that the Prodibio products are the ABSOLUTE best. I have been using the Biodigest for years and can tell just by looking at my tank when it is time do dose again. LOVE the stuff!
