With the many different methods to maintain a low nutrient tank, I haven't heard much talk about prodibio. I have, however, seen some amazing tank utilizing some or all components of the system. I have tried a few different approaches to a low nutrient system and have had mixed results. Colors have been quite rewarding, but coral growth and time for maintenance have been their downfalls in my experience.

I am considering the prodibio approach after seeing many beautiful systems using the system. The infrequent suppliment additions, relative to my previous zeo tank, have me willing to try this avenue pending some user's experiences. I'm sure I will follow up with a multitude of questions, but as for now..
Can you inform me of your experiences? Please include applicable tank information as well as choice of suppliments.

Thanks,
SS

I dose Prodibio in my 90 gallon, 110 total. Ive been dosing it for 4 months now and got my dosinginstructions from GCarroll. He has used it for a year+. My colors and growth are great and theres absolutely no algae in my tank. I dose it in addition to daily vodka dosing. For the first 6 weeks, I dosed Bioptim andbiodigest, once a week, for 6 weeks. On the seventh week, I added Reefbooster. From then on, Ive dosed reefbooster once a week with the addition of bioptim and biodigest everyother week. This is my second time using the product. Both times I used the same dosing schedule with no adverse effects. There is a 4+ page thread on RC right now about it if you want to read up on their expirence but it would be nice to hear what this crowd has to say about it. I believe 143gagets uses this system. Hopefully he will chime in...

This approach to reef aquariums always strikes me as a lot of work and expense for questionable results. Has anyone maintained an aquarium with this or similar systems for two or more years? Is it worth it?

SunnyX is the man when it comes to LNS and the use of vodka and prodibio.

I recently started dosing vodka, and using both prodibio biodigest and reefbooster.

In a nutshell you start dosing vodka, and biodigest.

once your system is "low nutrient" then and only then you start dosing the reef booster.

the biodigest is used to diversify your bacterial cultures....

Otherwise you would end up with a monoculture of bacteria...which would then not get the job done as desired.

all and all biodigest is very inexpensive unless you are running a HUGE tank...

my 500+ gallon system will DEFINITELY be running this system.

My skimmer performance has tripled since dosing vodka, and the other colors of my corals has improved.

OK, I'm intrigued. I've seen mention of dosing vodka, but have not been able to find anything from an experienced person about how to do it. I have a 65 and a 40, so definitely dealing with small systems. Can you provide details about what you do and/or a link to a thread/site that gives details?

I'm at work right now so i cant go digging, but the safest directions to follow would be in a feature article of reef keeping magazine.

you will want to go to a local pharmacy and get insulin syringes (snap off the needle).

they are only 1 ml in total, so its easy to use those for the start up dosing as its VERY small.

i should note, a very good skimmer is important, and keep an eye on it for a little bit.

I emptied mine daily for a few days just incase...

Is there a requirement or recommendation for dosing vodka in combination? Daily dosing is something I wish to avoid, although, a dosing pump could handle the vodka regimen.. SS

bigian: can you send me a title or link to the thread on RC? I'd really like to see what others have to say.
