Does anyone on here use a profilux controller? If so how do you like it? I have been looking at these for a little bit now, and would like to get some more user feedback.

i have one for sometime now and overall i am pretty happy with it. I dont know if you are looking for certain feeback but here is my two cents:
Overall the machine can do just about everything you wanted it to however all the parts can be expensive and at lest for me i can only buy parts online.

i have 2 of them one on my main tank and one on my nano

they work and that is all that is needed (i have been running them for over a year and a half)

I am getting the profilux 3 when it is shipped out

I had a Profilux and it did not meet my needs and
I quickly maxed out the Profilux.

I found the Profilux to have a Lot of limits on the
number of plug strips, float switches etc.

I have a basement sump on the Profilux all the wires have to be run back
to the head unit. So I had to use multiple control cable runs between the
display Sump and head unit (A lot of cable runs). The Profilux has a lot of
"Cute" features, but for me it really lacked in capabilities.

I wound up switching over to a Reef Keeper Elite (RKE), for me it was
a far more capable unit.

Since the RKE a modular system It only requires 1 control cable to be run
from the Display to the sump (the modules are all daisy chained together).

Unlike the Profilux every plug strip powers the system, (the profilux only
has 1 power supply). What that means is if you have a system like mine
where multiple Plug strips are plugged into Different outlets on different
house circuit Breakers, and one breaker trips the RKE stays up since the
rest of the strips are still supplying power. You only loose that segment
of control.

For example: The breaker trips that my lights are plugged into, I would
only have the lights go off, my pumps and heaters stay up and running.

They also sell a module that supplies power to the RKE that you can hook
to a battery and if you have the Net module it can e-mail/text you if you
have a power failure alarm etc.

The RKE is a workhorse and gets the Job done without a bunch of useless
“cute†features, ad is far better priced, so you can use all that nmoney
you save for more important things like Corals and Fish. After all what do
you really care about a controller you never really touch once it is all
setup or the Corals and fish you get to enjoy every day?

A controller is just a tool to help us maintain out tanks.

I'm not Anti-Profilux but I have owned both and think the RKE is
Far better (Plus they are a sponsor here)

I hope this helps.
