Tank was set up march 5. Went thru ups and downs. Currently I have 1 pink clown, lots of different snails and hermits, an elephant ear mushroom that is doing great another mushroom that looks like it is going to split soon and a monti frag I just moved higher in the tank. The monti frag has been in tank since may 21 and looks to be doing well.

Did an API test yesterday
ammonia 0
trites 0
ph 8.4
trates 80......I had this happen last week and when I took my water into LFS to be tested it came back far lower than that. Every time I test trates its high every time the store tests its low. My tests are old hand me downs. Still need to get salifert tests as the old hand me downs I have dont have all the different equipment needed to do the test.

I will get the other tests mag, alk etc etc and a better nitrate test before I add anything to tank.

Main question is rabbit fish. How hardy are they? Potential problems? They are very neat fish and more than likely will be my next addition some time this summer once I am sure tank is stable.

It's hard to say on the nitrate tests. Our hobby kits are a bit of a guess as they are color comparison. It isn't unusual to have high nitrates, but I would try to get them under 20 or so. I like the Red Sea nitrate kit.

Ideally you should be testing for alk and calcium if you keep stony corals. If you don't do much water changes, then Mg and other parameters might be worth testing.

Very hardy. Also peaceful. Problems are their size, venomous spines, and every once in a while will eat a coral they shouldn't.
