dude...idk what is up with that moronic clam but no matter how much you right him he always lays back on his side exposing his foot....he did it in my 60 Gal too lol....and he is as healthy as can be...must be a "special" clam :tongue:
Clams often move when they are looking for more flow or more light and do so till the find the position that gives them the best of both so you may wish to look at the flow it is getting and how the light is reaching it FWIW

I've moved him many times if anything he moves into position that impedes both of those things. There is another clam In my 60 gal that is in the exact same spot that he was and it hasn't moved at all. Now though he has moved into a position I'm fine with. Like I said, he is otherwise healthy and thriving and has been for months now. I appreciate the input though!
Interesting that one clam would like that spot and the other one not. Are they the same species ? Some clams species like more light and flow and some do not, depending on what depth they are normally found in nature ... so if they are different species that could be a reason but if they are the same species then that is indeed an odd behavior.

the stubborn one is a crocea and the other is a maxima...from my other experiences, and what ive read both like high light and moderate flow
Both need high lighting but Crocea also needs strong current that is not laminar, and an adequate substrate to burrow in. Here is an article about Crocea ones :

Maxima needs strong light and a good deal of flow much IME not as much as the Crocea.

well its got a good 1.5" sand bed to burrow..ill mess with the direction of the flow and see how he responds. much appreciated!

Yes indeed and very good food too as it has plenty of nutrients and oil in it .. and that is good .. that is also the reason I feed live clam meat after freezing them and then adding small shavings to the tank for the fish and spot feeding it to my corals.

Im not even going to attempt to raise them...there are plenty of small crevices and TINY pods and such that maybe i will get lucky and one will mature into adulthood. Water quality is good, so theres a SLIGHT chance.
Well you never know right ! but usually if your fish find them they will get eaten even if the parent(s) defend the eggs .. usually it will not happen but then there are always exceptions.

as of right now the only fish in there is a wheelers goby...pods can scoot past him and he wont even flinch lol

baby shrimp are now floating around the tank...i went against my word and sucked up a few. threw em in a filter cartridge thing i had for my fluval G3 and stuck that in one of the chambers lol
