I had a thread about pronunciation awhile back. But I’m curious... how do you say sebae anemone? Sea-bay? Sea-bye? Suh-bay?

It's always been sea-bay for me.

But there are a lot of words in this hobby I struggle trying to get a correct pronunciation for. Like nudibranch. I've heard nudi-brack a lot, but I've also heard nudi-branch?

Nudi-brank is the correct way. I’m such a geek with those things. I hope this doesn’t turn into a how to say chaetomorpha again

Sibby clo-fish is correct according to that. I’m lost because I say “clown fish” not “clo-fish”

It also has 12 iterations for English (USA) not to mention the multitude of other "English" dialects. Are they all correct? Does it matter where you are in the world when using the English version? Then, at the bottom of the page, you are asked to vote for which version you prefer. If I were asked, I'd say that site is useles.

that the UK version. they have other pronunciations as well, like the australian.
But you can get the basic idea of how it should sound from there.

its more useful than just asking random people to pronounce it over text... lol at least this gives you actual; audible sounds to go after instead of just making up sounds in your head which can still be wrong

The rub with the site is that anyone can upload a pronunciation based on the sounds they make up in their head and, BTW, I like the sounds I make up in my head! Lol

I have to say, I can’t depend on this site as no one I know says “clo-fish” I know it’s easy to google something but I love to come here to get a collective of answers.
