I'm thinking about setting up a separate system for growing/prop'g zoa's. Right now the ones I have are in my display with tons of flow and 175w mhs and grow great.

I suspect the flow has as much to do with it as the lighting. Is it worth spending the extra on MH or would t5s produce as much growth?

Also anyone here use a wood frame and pond liner as a shallow prob tank?

i think t5s would work great. no shimmer, but what does that matter in a frag tank...

well if he's going to use a pond liner then shimmering effect wouldnt matter
when i was back at school, we used a pond liner and made a 12' long sump for a breeding system so i dont see why it wouldnt work

Zoas love t5s. Either option will work. I don't know if you're just cutting zoas, but if you plan on fragging anything a little less hardy than them, I would stick with MH so you don't shock a recent fragging with a light change.
