Anyone use ventless propane heaters in their home? We are upgrading to a 220 but it needs to go in family room in the basement. That room is cold and I'd like to add a wall mount ventless propane heater. I'm wondering how much this will effect the o2 and Co2 levels in the reef tank.

Why cant you use a mini split AC /heatpump like Fujitsu , that would be much better for the tank and humidity. you can get them in 120v or 220v

Does the room have no heat, I have mine in my basement in New Hampshire and all I have for heat is a small electric heater the 120 gallon tank actually keeps the room warm.

We have heat. This would just be to take the chill out. The basement runs about 5 10 degrees colder than the rest of the house. The space is too big for an electric space heater. A wall mount heat pump would be nice but the house has central ac already and those units are a couple thousand more than I'd like to spend.

ok then , your ph is gonna be all over the place, and your ATO will be working overtime but its doable , those type heaters are not legal in alot of states , for alot of reasons. but your in PA !!! (very laxed codes ) so you should be ok

My room is 20x20 and I actually sleep down there and am quite comfortable, as I said the tank keeps the room warm.

I wouldn’t do it. It will add lots of humidity to the room, consume the oxygen and can put you and your family at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning if it doesn’t burn right. I would spend the extra money on a safe option. Your tank will also suffer from low pH from the reduced oxygen. Maybe a vented gas fireplace would be a better option. They can vent through the wall, are pretty efficient and put out lots of heat. Most come with thermostat control.

this is the heater I use, I doesn't use heating elements that get red that some do so it couldn't start a fire even if something was touching it.

I kinda figured that it would screw with the ph trying not to have to hire an electrician to install another circuit for an electric heater or baseboard.
